How to Check Your NHIF Status Online Via Web Visit the official NHIF online portal. Sign up to gain access to the self-service portal. If you're registering for the first time, you'll be required to input your NHIF card number, email address, and working phone number in case they need to contact you. Create a password.
Once you register you will have to wait for 60days to start using. Contributions start immediately. The card matures after 60 days. Payment is done immediately upon registration.

You can always check your status or get your NHIF details by sending a text message with the format [ID {space} Your ID Number] e.g. (ID 12345678) to 1550, by dialling *155#, using the 'My NHIF' App which can be downloaded from Google Play or App Store or the NHIF Selfcare Platform.
The card takes 60 days to be active and the monthly payment is made on the third month and every month before date 9, failure to pay the monthly payment after a month amounts to a penalty of Kshs. 250 every month. The beginning of monthly payments depends on the amount one paid on the day of registration.

The National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF) Portal is an online portal designed to provide an easy and secure way for employers to register and manage their employees’ health insurance coverage. The portal also provides a convenient way for individuals to view their coverage and benefits information, as well as make payments or submit claims.
All employers registered with the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) are required to file NHIF contributions through the NHIF portal. Employers must register on the portal to report and make payments for all their employees.
1. Go to the NHIF website (www.nhif.or.ke) and click on the ‘online services’ tab. 2. On the left side of the page, click on the ‘member portal’ tab. 3. On the next page, click on the ‘register’ tab to start the registration process. 4. Fill in the required information as requested. This includes your name, date of birth, phone number, email address, national ID number, NHIF number and other relevant details. 5. The deadline to file NHIF portal in 2023 has yet to be determined. However, the filing period is typically open from mid-April to mid-June each year.
